POSTING DATE: February 14, 2023 JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Information Services, Grade 24 LOCATION: Headquarters Library DATE AVAILABLE: June 1, 2023 SALARY: $43,375 per year (Includes generous benefits package)
HOURS: 40 hours per week
Monday-Friday, with one closing night (9:15pm) per week, and occasional
weekends (8:45am-6:15pm Saturday, 1:00-6:15pm Sunday). (Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule
changes; may be asked to work other times as needed).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Master's of Library and Information Science Accredited By The American Library Association with a minimum of three years’ experience in a public library preferred and some supervisory experience Must complete pre-employment testing.
Oversees daily functions of the
Information Services Department including scheduling staff, coordinating
programs, and planning for outreach and other special events.
Meets regularly with assistants working
in the Information Services Department to coordinate their training, guide
and supervise their work, and evaluate their performance.
Sets standards for the department to
provide superior customer service when assisting patrons of all ages and
abilities with information requests, reader’s advisory, computers, and
Assists the director with department
meetings and planning processes and participates in relevant
Oversees the department’s status as a
passport acceptance facility, including maintaining annual certification
and assisting with passport appointments as needed.
Attends regular training related to
information services and other library work.
Maintains department statistics and
Stays informed of the needs and interests
of adults and collaborates with other adult services departments to ensure
creative and innovative programs.
Maintains awareness of and completes
ongoing training regarding safety and security and encourages a safe
atmosphere for staff and patrons.
Serves as Librarian-in-Charge when
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Degree in Library Science from an accredited ALA library school with
knowledge of Information Services in public libraries
knowledge of professional library principles, procedures, materials and
practices with public library experience and some supervisory
knowledge of electronic and print information resources
written and verbal communication skills
to establish deadlines, monitor progress, and work well with a
interpersonal and customer service skills
driver’s license with the ability to drive to other libraries or community
