JOB TITLE: Outreach Assistant - Homebound Service, Grade 19
LOCATION: Headquarters Library
DATE AVAILABLE: May 1, 2025
SALARY: $2,541 per month (Includes generous benefit package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Selects books and other library materials for homebound patrons
  • Handles all circulation (checking out and in materials, placing holds, etc,) for homebound patrons
  • Delivers materials to patrons in a library vehicle or by mail
  • Provides patron assistance in person, over the phone, and via email
  • Maintains electronic records, information, and statistics regarding patrons and volunteers
  • Assists in organizing systemwide volunteer programs, such as the Junior Volunteers
  • Participates in the Outreach Department’s community events
  • Substitutes at branches, departments, and on the Bookmobile as needed


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • General knowledge of public library procedures, practices, and equipment
  • Must enjoy reading, suggesting, and discussing different genres
  • Ability to meet the public with poise and self-assurance and to deal tactfully and courteously with library patrons and volunteers from all backgrounds and age groups
  • Strong technology skills and ability to work with a variety of devices and software
  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic
  • Highly flexible with a willingness to adapt to change
  • Organized with good time management and communication skills
  • Ability to take direction and to work independently or in a team environment
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive to homebound patrons, branch libraries, and community outreach events
