Summer Reading for All starts June 1st!
Everyone is invited to read 9 books or for 9 hours this summer to win prizes! Visit any SCPL location to pick up a Summer Reading card or get started here:
Once you’ve completed your first Summer Reading card, bring it to the library and exchange it for a prize.* All cards will also be added to additional prize drawings, so keep reading and completing cards for more chances to win!
Greenville Drive Summer Reading All-Stars
Do you like baseball and Summer Reading? Then you are in for a treat this year! This summer, Spartanburg County Public Libraries has partnered with the Greenville Drive again to offer you the opportunity to participate in the Summer Reading All-Stars Celebration. This baseball game is to celebrate everyone who finishes their Summer Reading cards.
Participation is encouraged for the entire family and includes a free ticket for each individual that completes the SCPL Summer Reading card to attend the Reading All-Stars Celebration at Fluor Field on August 14 at 3 p.m.

Summer Reading is HERE! Squeeze every last drop out of the fun and join us for some great events, sweet prizes, and lots of fun reading.
To join in, pick up a Summer Reading card at your local branch, request one or print one out above, then read nine books or for nine hours. Complete your card, bring it back, and you’ll receive an awesome frisbee or medal (while supplies last).
If you want, grab another card and complete that one too—every time you complete a card, you’re entered into the drawing for one of our weekly prize bundles.
- For a public program, the public is given the priority for admittance. Daycares will be expected to call prior to their visit, but there is no guarantee that enough supplies or space will be available.
- If admittance to the program is limited, the public will have first access to reserve their seat prior to the event. Daycares must call back or wait for a librarian to call them back.
- Daycare Supervisor
- The supervisor must be at least 18 years old and abide by the Staff-to-Child ratio regulations set in place by SC Child Care. Library staff is not included in the ratio. (source)
Child's Age Staff-to-Child Ratios Birth to one year 1:5 One to two years 1:6 Two to three years 1:8 Three to four years 1:12 Four to five years 1:17 Five to six years 1:20 Six to twelve years 1:23 - The supervisor is expected to be engaged during the program and will be responsible for regulating the behavior of the children in attendance.

- Arrangements for an outreach visit can be made with a Children’s Assistant and is dependent on the Library location’s schedule.
Yay, summer! Time to relax, read what you want, and enjoy fun in-person and virtual teen events. Teens who complete Summer Reading will receive an aluminum water bottle (selected for teens, by teens) and be entered to win a $100 gift card of their choice! Keep reading for additional entries in the gift card drawings that will take place at the end of June and July.
